Sunset Sunday-Similar yet different

One thing I love about having storms, other then the awesome amounts of lightening, is seeing the cloud formations. That coupled with the sunsets and you have a recipe for a beautiful sight. Last weekend was no exception. While we didn't get the severe storms that were predicted (which I have no complaints on) we did get some really neat clouds.

These two shots were taken within a few minutes of each other. The first right as the sun was setting, and the second was right as the sun had almost sully set. Very similar yet completely different in coloring.

Have a wonderful Sunday! And don't forget to link up one (or a few) of your sunset photos in the linky below.

Sunset Sunday-Repost of a favorite

A while back I took a photo of a sunset that I knew as soon as I took it I would love it. Sure enough when I put my pictures on the computer and brought it up I ohhhhh'd and awwwww'd at it. Now I may be a bit biased but hey, I am allowed to be right.

I was feeling a little inspirational the other day so I added this amazing quote to the photo. You know just in case any one needs any inspiration or cheering up. I hope this photo inspires you like it has for me.

Sunset Sunday-The airport never sleeps

Funny story. I was doing some work on my laptop last night when I kept getting these notifications that my dropbox was being updated. So what's a girl to do but be nosy and see what was being added. My husband, while completely adorable is a bit of a dork, was taking tons of pictures of what I think was clouds. If not they were completely random building pictures with neat clouds in the back ground. So yeah I will go with the former.
Realizing I once again didn't take any sunset photos I asked him to take a few for me to share in today's Sunset Sunday post. Like a good hubby he obliged and sent over about ten photos. These were my two favorites from the group he took.

He said the pictures were just eh but I disagree. I  absolutely love how the sun was right in the middle of the second shot and the tail of the plane was right in front of the sun in the second photo and in the first one with the one plane park and another in the background taxing somewhere it just shows how even while the sky may be peaceful and slow moving an airport never sleeps. So thank you hunny for sharing your photos with me so I could share them here.

Sunset Sunday-Good morning?

I know the title may throw some of you but while I was browsing through my photos looking for one to post for this weeks Sunset Sunday I came across a picture I took with my cell phone (I seem to be doing a lot of that lately) on our train ride from Paris to Brussels. Seeing it I knew that I had to share it, even though it isn't a sunset but instead a sunrise.

It's gorgeous isn't it? I know I am biased here but there's something just so peaceful about this photo. The start of a new day, a new beginning. That is what sunrises symbolize to me. And when I see a stunning sunrise it reminds me to make the day extra special. I will never forget this sunrise. Even though I was running off less then four hours sleep and less sleep the day before I was getting ready to fly home to see the most precious things in my life, my children. So for me having that little reminder that I needed to make my day great and knowing I would be seeing my babies soon it will forever be carved in my memory. And that is why I had to share this sunrise picture instead of a sunset for this weeks sunset Sunday.

Sunset Sunday-Paris

Over the summer my husband and I had the chance to take a vacation by ourselves. That hasn't happened since 2002. Yes you read that right, it has been ten years since we had an adult vacation and boy was it needed! In ten years we have gotten married, started a family, moved 12 times, gone from none of us being in school to four of of the five of us in school and many, many more changes. It's been a wonderful adventure but every once in a while some adult alone time is needed.

So on a whim (sort of, there was some planning but it was quick planning) we packed everyone up, dropped the kids off with the Grandparents and off we went. Where did we go? Paris, the city of love.

I am not quite sure how I managed to not take any photos of sunsets with my camera. We were out and about all day long every day we were there and always on the move. But the night before we left I did manage to get a few photos on my phone.

Walking to the train looking onto Part 1 of the Convention Center
The dome on the left is part 2 of the Convention Center
Walking back to our hotel waiting for the Metro to pass by
Another shot on our walk to our hotel

I wish I had remembered to take more sunset photos but I am thankful I do have a few from my phone. Maybe if there is another trip to Paris I will write myself a note to take more sunset photos.

Sunset Sunday-Vacation time

While I am on vacation for a little bit I had planned to ask some friends if they may want to share any sunset photos and wouldn't you know out of the blue I received an email from Erin of A Parenting Production with a photo she took while she was on vacation offering to let me post it on a Sunset Sunday post. Talk about timing, and once I saw the photo I knew I had to post it.

Erin took this gorgeous photo at Lake Waukewan in New Hampshire. I don't know about you but this photo just screams peaceful to me. What a gorgeous view to watch a sunset from, and there is not a single edit done to this photo. Beauty at it's best that's for sure. Thank you so much Erin for sharing your gorgeous photo!

Sunset Sunday-Cell phone edition

You'd think with all the traveling we've been doing that I would have gotten some sunset shots. Yeah I had thought so to and then I realized I totally didn't even think about grabbing photos while out and about. I was just a wee bit bummed when I discovered that.

So I went to the next best thing....my phone, and again barely any photos (insert frustration here)! I did manage to find two so those I will share those with you all but I still felt like we needed more oomph. So I went to some awesome friends of mine and asked if they had any photos they wanted to share. Thank you so much Angela, Andrea and Jessica for sharing your photos this week.

 Driving home last night.

Flying from OKC to Detroit earlier this week. I've never caught a sunset in plain view while flying before and it was magnificent.

Angela from Untrained Housewife shared this beautiful photo she took. Lovely with the rays shining up isn't it.

Andrea from Lil Kid Things shared this photo from her awesome birthday dinner that her hubby treated her to.

This photo is from Jessica at It's My Life and it is absolutely stunning. My jaw may have dropped when I saw it and I may or may not have stared at it for five minutes before being able to take my eyes off of it.

Many people discount cell phone cameras after snapping a picture and they never look back. But even those pictures taken in a fleeting moment have storys to tell. I encourage you to go through your phone photos and relive a special moment in doing so.

Sunset Sunday-Partial eclipse

First I want to apologize if I haven't responded to anyone's comments recently. As you can see I redid my blog last weekend and I did not notice that my comment system had been turned off and put into moderation mode. And since I don't use the typical blogger comments I can't publish them. They are there, and I saw them I just can't publish them or respond. I wasn't ignoring you I promise!

Now onto the Sunsets. I didn't get out and take photos last night like I had planned so I am digging through the archives once again. It's always fun going back and finding treasures you might not have known about or may have forgotten about.

These were taken bake when we had the eclipse. I drove all around town trying to get a decent shot, one without some type of obstruction and it was nearly impossible due to the direction the sun sets. But despite the obstructions I kind of like how they came out.

Last week I challenged you all to take a drive and enjoy the sunset. I hope you all remembered your cameras because I can't wait to see what everyone captured!

Sunset Sunday-Lets take a drive

One thing I like to do every so often is grab the kids and go driving with no destination in mind. I love driving around like that. It's a great way to discover new areas and if you remember to grab your camera you can also capture so great local beauty. So seeing as I was bored last night and the kids were all in a mood I knew it was a perfect time for us to go out and explore.

I did somehow end up near an area we had been to a few weeks ago so the kids and I sat in the trunk and watched as a train rolled by, then we headed off to find a new spot. And what we found was gorgeous. And added bonus was there were horses, even little baby one's. The kids loved seeing them and I loved seeing the smiles of their faces.

This week I challenge you to go out and explore. Just get in your car (with your camera) and drive with no destination in mind. And next week I'd love to see where you discovered.

Sunset Sunday-Driving home

I don't remember why exactly I had my camera with me on the drive home last week but I am glad I did. This was on our drive home. Every time we get stopped for the coming trains the kids laugh and scream as if it were Christmas morning. I love hearing their excitement and even though I can't remember what possessed me to bring my camera with me I am thrilled that it was sitting next to me in the car because every time I look at this photo I think of my kids smiling faces and how much joy seeing a train cross in front of us brings them.

Sunset Sunday-A peaceful spot

I have been so bad about keeping up with my Sunset Sunday posts lately. Between traveling to California, coming back home, attempting to get back into my routine oh and keeping my three little one's entertained and busy during summer break. While looking through my photos last night it struck me that my camera time has been nearly cut out. I don't have many photos from May until now. As in less then a hundred. For me that's a dry patch. One that I will have to rectify soon.

In the mean time I found a few photos to share with you all today. The sun was about halfway set and even though it was cloudy the sun was able to peek out from behind the clouds for the briefest of moments which provided this beautiful lighting.

Sunset Sunday-Mammatus Clouds

Every time I see those clouds like look like bubbles I ask my husband what kind of cloud it is. I am sure he is sick of hearing me ask it but I think the name may finally be stuck in my head. I was even able to answer someone when they asked me what type they were. Mammatus. They are seriously awesome to look at.
Last week we had a pretty good storm and a few hours before it hit the sky was filled with Mammatus clouds. And when I say filled I am not exaggerating. It was an awesome sight.

I wish I had a camera capable of taking landscape shots because these next two should be viewed side by side. While the sunset wasn't that easy to see, it was still beautiful because what you could see was so brilliant and then right next to those brilliant colors was a huge storm cloud. It's times like these I wish we either had a two story house or lived in the middle of nowhere.

Sunset Sunday-Country Roads

I had to go digging through the archives for this weeks Sunset Sunday photos. They aren't that old, took them about a month or two ago. I haven't been able to get any sunset shots recently because most nights around here have been cloudy. If it isn't cloudy and I do manage to get a shot it's typically from my cell phone. And while cell phone photos can be awesome the quality isn't always the greatest, especially when you take a shot while in a moving car. Yeah doesn't always turn out the clearest.
I love digging through the archives and finding gems such as these that I have totally forgotten about. These were taken one day while driving around exploring the surrounding areas. I am not sure what town this is or even where I was but I've always enjoyed driving country roads and exploring with my children.

Sunset Sunday-2012 Super Moon

I have been crazy busy this last week and haven't much down time to get out and take pictures but I wasn't about to miss the Super Moon this year. I went out at two separate times. Once while the moon was rising and then at 10:35 which is when reports said it would be at it's fullest. I'm not sure if it would just be at it's fullest in one particular area or what but it looked bigger to me as it was rising instead of when it was all the way up. I'm not expert so who knows, maybe it just looked smaller because I was tired.
Anywho, seeing as I don't have any new photos of recent sunsets I thought I would share the two photos I have of this years super moon.

Around 9:35 as it was rising

At 11:35

Sunset Sunday-The calm before the storm

Since it is now spring time that also means the storms have arrived. Or should I say become more frequent. It's almost every weekend that they come and while I do love the thunder and lightening it also makes for some gorgeous sunsets.

The first photo shows the building of a thunderstorm. It's kind of hard to see when you don't know when you're looking at but lucky me I am married to a weather nerd lover. So towards the middle and off to the left is where I am talking about. When the cloud first started it looked like a giant mushroom and then it just kept growing and growing. It's really spectacular to watch.

And this one was just a random shot I took that I liked more then I thought I would.

Sunset Sunday-A perfect weekend

With the weather being so beautiful outside lately my family and I have been practically living outdoors. I mean how can you spend your days inside when it's a perfect 80 degrees with a slight breeze. Yesterday was another beautiful day, we spent it at a local festival and then came home washed the car which led to the kids getting soaked which led to hours of fun. It was the perfect Saturday. And what better way to end it then watching the sunset together. By together I mean the kids running around playing and me outside watching them and the sunset. Perfect I tell you.

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend.

Sunset Sunday-Speechless

For once I am speechless on what to write for this weeks Sunset Sunday. The photos I took were just after a storm had passed by. It was truly a breath taking sight. But the photo is not what has me speechless.

Today would have been my Grandfathers 81st birthday. It has been almost two years since he passed and I still have a hard time with it. I know he is in a better place and that he is watching over us but I miss him so much. He was the first real man in my life, the best Grandfather anyone could have asked for and an amazing Great Grandpa. So I am going to leave this post rather short but I want to dedicate this weeks Sunset Sunday to him. Papa, I love you with all my heart and I miss you every day.

Sunset Sunday-A sunset in progression

I HAVE MY CAMERA BACK!!!!

Sorry didn't mean to yell but I am ecstatic that I have it back and in working order. Now as not to jinx it I will quite talking about it.

This Thursday the kids and I spent about two hours after dinner playing outside. They took turns running, jumping, riding bikes and riding scooters. It was so much fun just sitting there watching them. Now my kids know they are only aloud to go where our sidewalk start to turn/to the street light, and then it's time to turn around. We have a double lot so it's not like I only give them five feet of playing area. That would be cruel. Keeping up with status quo my youngest likes to push the limits and drift off farther and farther past like street light. So on my many little man chase-downs that night I noticed how spectacular the sunset was. Blessing in disguise maybe?

The first two photos I took from my backyard, the first one I like because there is just something about seeing the sun shadowed by the clouds and the rays peeking out that just speaks to me. The second one, I don't remember why I took it but hey it helps in seeing the progression right.

And these next two are my favorites out of the group. I don't think I have ever seen the sun quite so big and brilliant as I did this night. I've looked at these photos over twenty times since I originally took them and I love them more and more every time.

Sunset Sunday-Peeking through trees

I found my little point and shoot camera last week and was able to snap a few shots of the sunset on Friday. To say I have missed my camera would be an understatement. Thank goodness for cell phone cameras and my little point and shoot camera. If I didn't have those I'd be going through some major withdrawals.

I love looking at sunsets through trees. It's like looking at things in a different perspective always makes you stop and think. No day is exactly the same, just as no person is exactly the same. And that is truly a beautiful thing. I hope wherever you may be that you take the time to sit and enjoy the sunsets.

Sunset Sunday-Fire at sunset

Three years ago during fire season a fire broke out in Southern California that was near our town. Not too close that we were in danger but it was pretty darn close. I remember taking the kids to the fair along with my Mom and wondering if we should really be outside because the smoke, while not over us was like looking at a giant wall. It was a spectacular sight to see and one I will never forget. The smoke had turned into clouds and it was almost an ominous sight.

These were taken as we were leaving right as the sun began to set.
