Wordless Wednesday

The kids and I met a friend at Apollo Park the other week. As we were leaving I looked over and saw how the trees were framing the lake and the ducks just casually swimming by, I just had to take a picture.

Religion

Just fyi, this is a difficult topic for me. I grew up in a divorced family. And both of my parents were different religions. My mother is Jewish and my sperm donor ("father") is Christian. Growing up I was forced into going to church, awanas and church camp. I never enjoyed the fact the it wasn't my decision. Even from a very young age I realized that it was wrong for something of such importance to be forced on someone. Because of that I am not a religious person. I made a promise to myself at a very young age that if and when I had children I would never put them in that situation. And now here I sit at 28 years old, married to a Christian, with three kids and I stand by that promise. Last year my friend invited us to attend Vacation bible school with them. Her daughter is the same age as my oldest. I talked to Jr before giving her an answer. Explaining to him what VBS is and if he would like to go. He jumped at it. Jr has always been a curious little man and he was very excited to start this new experience. It only lasted a week and enjoyed every second of it. Now we are on our second year of attending VBS and I asked my daughter if she wanted to attend this year. As soon as she heard the word school her eyes got big and she gave me a huge smile and said yes. I know she is young (not quite four) but I still explained to her in my best way what VBS was so I could give her the choice of attending or not.
Every night 30 minutes before VBS ends they bring everyone into the main room (not sure of the actual name lol) and they usually put on like a mini play and maybe sing a song or two. They also give out prizes for say someone who brings a friend or the class that raises the most money. They also announce if any child(ren) have accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts. Imagine my surprise when they called Jr up there. This is all very new to me so I was a tad lost but I knew I was proud of him. At six years old he has already decided his path he wants to follow (That's a heck of a lot more then I did at that age).

I know the quality is horrible but it's the best picture I got. Here he is getting recognition for accepting Jesus Christ into his heart.

My two boys
Right now they don't spend a lot of time together so when I see a rare minute like this I of course RUN and grab the camera.
I love them so much!

Water day!

This week is full of all kinds of fun things, well for the kids that is lol More specifically the kids at Jr's school. Yesterday was water day, today was music day and tomorrow is pj/game day. It's so neat for them (the teachers) to be doing all of this for the kids. It just makes the school year all that more special for them. Also today Jr came home from school with a present from his teacher. She gave him a book, how sweet is that! I'm kind of sad that tomorrow is his last day of school. I know in the beginning of the school year I wasn't pleased that Jr was being transferred out of his class and into a new one because the class sizes are were too large but in the end I am happy that it was done. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher for him. She pushed him when he needed to be pushed and helped when he struggled. And now he will be moving up to first grade when 8 months ago we weren't sure if that was going to happen.
Back to water day. Myself along with another students mom were in charge of a group of eight kids. The teachers set up 14 water stations, each with a different activity. It was a lot of fun watching and helping the kids. They all had a blasty blast. Here are a few pictures of my little man enjoying his day.
During the potato race, we squirted them with water bottles while they were racing lol

Soaking wet and having a blast!

Graduation day!!

I know I haven't been around much and for that I apologize but things have been busy. Between family things and with Jr ending school and my husband also, and his finals I haven't had much time for blogging. But I wanted to share my sons special day with everyone.
Jr graduated Kindergarten yesterday!!! I am sooooo proud of him. He has come a long way from when he started, barely being able to write or read, now he does both very well. He can also count to almost two hundred. It's just amazing watching his progress.
His teacher was very sweet to mention a few things about each of the children before she gave them their certificates of completion. I can't believe in just a few short months I am going to have a first grader!

On our way for the big day!
